“We look at lacrosse and our lacrosse team as a vehicle for self-improvement,” said Lander’s Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Anthony LePore in an interview. With lacrosse season in full swing and the Lander Bearcats fighting every game to compete, many look to the head coach for his thoughts and leadership. Coach LePore has already led Lander’s Men’s Lacrosse Team through many productive seasons thanks to his positive yet competitive mindset.   Tough, smart and skilled are all traits that Lander’s Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Omar Wattad, looks for in his players. I try to look for guys that I think would be able to be coached, coached hard, and have the ability to be over themselves and be humble and can be made fun of.” He went on, “And I mean that in the best way possible like guys that can take a joke and just not take themselves too seriously. I try to see if they have that in them. And also, competitive. I want guys that are competitive and have it in them and want to win.” Coach Wattad came to Lander University during COVID-19 and was hired on April 6, 2020. Before coaching at Lander, Wattad played D1 f...

Study Abroad Day is just around the corner, scheduled for Monday, February 23, and Corbitt, Spanish instructor and director of Study Abroad, is thrilled. “This is our first year. I would love to make it a yearly thing,” she says in an interview. Corbitt explained that the goal of Study Abroad Day is “to raise campus awareness of Lander’s study abroad programs” because she wholeheartedly believes that “Study Abroad is for everyone.” She continued, “It doesn't matter what your major is. It doesn’t matter, you know, where your life trajectory takes you. I think that everybody can benefit from having that experience outside of the South Carolina bubble.” The director believed that this program is not only a fun experience, but it can also grow people’s character. “Study Abroad is an area where you can push the boundaries of your comfort...
